Families and Children
Art education at museum gugging is dedicated to the exploration of art and creativity for toddlers, children, teenagers and their families or other adults accompanying them. Our activities utilize methods from art, dance and theater education as well as elementary music education in order to promote aesthetic appreciation and instill the courage to carry out one's own ideas.

Read-aloud afternoon for families
This year we are inviting families to villa gugging. Unique authors and artists will visit us and take us on exciting, touching and imaginative journeys.
On Saturday, April 26, 2025: Family afternoon with Julia Saarinen - “Olaf Hoppel and the secret language”
At the center of the story is Olaf the rabbit, who is deaf despite his long ears. When he arrives at a school for hearing children, he initially feels misunderstood and lonely. But then Olaf arouses the interest of his classmates with his special “secret language”. Suddenly everyone wants to get in touch with Olaf and is enthusiastic about his world.
Followed by a sign language workshop and craft station. Books by the author can be purchased and signed.
On Saturday, June 21, 2025: Family afternoon with Magda Hassan and Sonja Stangl- “Sorgenfalter” the book to the song by MiA: “Let me be your worry butterfly, I fold big worries small!”
An oversized origami bunny sculpture by artist Kinga Litkey will be on display in the museum's inner courtyard from May to June. Inspired by this, all visitors can (learn to) fold their own worry butterflies and other origami figures after the reading with picture book cinema/kamishibai storytelling theater.
On Sunday, November 23, 2025: The Danube Pirates at the gugginger ARTvent
The Donaupirat:innen slip into different roles, tell stories, play, sing pop songs and invite you to join in: Participatory musical theater for children from 5 to 10 and older!
With a craft station, Advent wreath making and other Christmas activities in the museum.
