Welcome to the world of Gugging poet Ernst Herbeck!

For the first time, museum gugging devoted an exhibition of his own to Ernst Herbeck (1920-1991), the eloquent and et so silent poet among the Gugging Artists. At the show’s heart was the distinctive poetic voice of Ernst Herbeck. The various chapters of the story of his life and authorship were opened on the basis of original documents, images, and film and sound recordings, some of which had never been exhibited before. A fairly large number of drawings by Ernst Herbeck, which are closely related to his poetic work, was also on show for the first time.

The exhibition’s architecture and design reflected Herbeck’s thematic world and poetic methods. In close cooperation, curator Gisela Steinlechner and exhibition designer Peter Karlhuber thus brought to life a luxuriantly atmospheric presentation on this great Gugging poet.

Ernst Herbeck: “I was born near Stockerau on June 4, 1920 and learned nothing at all. because I couldn’t stand it. Then I joined the company Vogel. and learned typewriting art.”

“Not every person has a mouth / some mouths are disqualified / or operated. As in my case”, he wrote decades later in a poem.
